How do I deposit using Coinbase?

Step 1: Create a Coinbase Account

To start, visit the Coinbase website at www.coinbase.com. On the homepage, click the “Get Started” button to initiate the account creation process. You’ll be prompted to enter your first name, last name, email address, and to create a secure password. After filling in your details, read and agree to the User Agreement and Privacy Policy, then click “Create Account.”

Once you’ve submitted your information, Coinbase will send a verification email to the address you provided. Open this email and click on the verification link to confirm your email address. After verifying your email, you’ll be asked to secure your account further by verifying your phone number. Enter your mobile number, and Coinbase will send you a text message with a code. Input this code on the website to complete phone verification. For added security, it’s recommended to set up two-factor authentication (2FA), although this step is optional.

Next, you’ll need to complete identity verification, also known as Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance. Provide your personal information, including your date of birth and residential address. You’ll also need to upload a clear photo of a valid government-issued ID, such as a passport, driver’s license, or national ID card. The verification process may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days, depending on the volume of requests.

Step 2: Add a Payment Method

After your account is set up and verified, log in to Coinbase and click on your profile icon, typically located in the upper right corner of the dashboard. From the dropdown menu, select “Settings” to access your account settings. Within the settings menu, navigate to the “Payment Methods” tab. Here, you’ll have the option to add a new payment method.

Choose the payment option that best suits your needs. If you prefer to make larger purchases with lower fees, linking a bank account is advisable, though transactions may take a few days to process. If you need to make an instant purchase and don’t mind higher fees, you can opt to link a debit card. For high-limit transactions, wire transfers are also available. Follow the on-screen instructions to link your chosen payment method, providing any required banking or card information.

Step 3: Buy USDC or other Crypto (ETH/BTC etc.)

With your payment method linked, you’re ready to purchase USDC. On the Coinbase dashboard, locate and click the “Buy/Sell” button at the top of the page. This will take you to the transaction interface. In the “Buy” tab, you’ll see a dropdown menu of available cryptocurrencies. Scroll through the list and select “USD Coin (USDC).”

Enter the amount of USDC you wish to purchase in either your local currency or in USDC units. Ensure that the correct payment method is selected for the transaction. If you have multiple payment methods linked, you can choose the preferred one from a dropdown menu. Before proceeding, review the transaction details carefully. This includes the purchase amount, fees, and the total amount of USDC you’ll receive.

Click on “Preview Buy” to see a summary of your transaction. This page will display all the details, including any applicable fees. If everything appears correct, click “Buy now” to finalize the purchase. The transaction will be processed, and you should receive confirmation shortly.

Step 4: Transaction Completion

After completing your purchase, Coinbase will display a confirmation message on the screen. You’ll also receive an email receipt detailing the transaction specifics. To view your updated USDC balance, navigate to the “Portfolio” or “Assets” tab on your dashboard. Here, you’ll see all your cryptocurrency holdings, including the newly purchased USDC.

Next you will need to deposit on Ethos. There are two options for this:

Option 1)
- Go to the Portfolio screen.
- Tap “Receive Assets” to view your Ethos wallet address.
- Confirm that the asset you wish to send is on one of the 7 networks/blockchains supported by the Ethos app.
(Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalance, Binance Smart Chain, Bitcoin)
- Send assets to the Ethos wallet address that matches the network/blockchain your assets are on.
